According to the figures released by Unacea, the Italian construction equipment association, in the twelve months of 2024, 22,013 construction equipment machines were placed on the Italian market, marking a decrease of 11% compared to 2023. More specifically, 20,988 earthmoving machines (-12%) and 1,025 road machines (+9%) were sold in 2024.

“Despite the reduction in sales of earthmoving machines, a positive note comes from road equipment, which shows a countertrend in a generally less favorable context. Unacea had anticipated this physiological decline, hoping that construction and infrastructure activity levels could still meet the country’s needs.”

said Michele Vitulano, president of Unacea.

Foreign trade is also down, as indicated by the latest Unacea-Cer foreign trade report. Exports between January and October 2024 surpassed €2.6 billion, recording a decrease of 8% compared to the same period in 2023. Imports also showed a negative trend, decreasing by 5% to €1.8 billion. The trade balance remains in surplus by nearly €845 million but with a 13% decline compared to the previous year.
