Positive international trade in the sector. Unacea’s comment at the press conference.
In the twelve months of 2021, 22,000 construction machines will be placed on the Italian market, with a growth of 30% compared to 2020. These are the figures presented by Unacea and commented by CER (Centro Europa Ricerche), during a press conference sponsored by GIC – (Giornate italiane per il calcestruzzo), held on February 1st. More in detail, earthmoving machines sold in 2021 are 21,107 units (+30%), 893 road machines(+26%).
Positive international trade in the sector according to the Unacea-Cer Foreign Trade Report, with exports reaching €2.3 billion between January and October 2021, up 19% compared to the same period in 2020. Imports were also positive, growing by 42% to €1.2 billion. Positive for more than €1 billion the balance of trade, surplus growing by 2% year-on-year.
General secretary of Unacea, Luca Nutarelli, said:
“The year 2021 closes with a definitely positive result for the construction equipment sector. The growth, experienced in all quarters of the year, has certainly helped to recover part of what was lost with the crisis that began in 2008. Expectations for 2022 also remain positive. On the other hand, inflationary dynamics, the rising cost of energy and supply difficulties risk compromising the current expansionary phase, reducing the profitability of companies in the medium term. We hope, therefore, that these aspects can be taken into serious consideration by the public authorities, in order not to thwart the efforts of the recovery plan for the country system”.
