BAS Mining Trucks proudly presents its newest mining truck models: the 10×4 and 8×4 widespread haul trucks. Their biggest advantages: higher payload & increased safety.
SAFER & MORE COST EFFICIENT HAUL TRUCKS
The new widespread models are equipped with a 38 tonne tandem axle. The strength of this tandem axle is improved by BAS Mining Trucks. The axles are placed further apart. This way, more space is created to mount bigger and wider tires. This brings more stability during driving and unloading on the one hand. On the other hand this results in more carrying capacity, resulting in 10×4 tipper trucks with a capacity of 31 m3 and a net payload of 56 tonnes and 8×4 tipper trucks with 45 tonnes net payload.
The new widespread haul trucks have a top speed of 50 km/h and can operate on a gradeability up to 15%. The 10×4 widespread trucks have a third axle which is pneumatically suspended. To reduce wear and tear of this axle, it is lifted automatically when the truck is empty or in reverse. To increase efficiency of your operation, more options like payload measurement system, inclinometer and BAS Fleet Connect are available.
director of BAS Mining Trucks, Bas van Heertum, said:
“The higher payload compared to standard tipper trucks, articulated trucks and, similar size, rigid trucks, leads to a mining truck with the lowest cost per tonne in general.”
IMPROVEMENTS ON SAFETY
The BAS Mining Trucks are based on the Volvo FMX. This has always been the most robust construction truck to date which is able to tackle really tough terrain. Several improvements have been made which make the truck safer and even more cost efficient. The new cab is more spacious and designed for better visibility. All windows (front and sides) are wider which improves visibility around the truck. The secondary display inside the cab allows for simultaneous visuals of both the rear view camera as other installed cameras, but also the side slope indicator and other functions. This makes the truck easier and safer to operate. An additional benefit is that a better awareness of the surroundings also results in faster cycle times.
LOWER FUEL CONSUMPTION & MAINTENANCE COSTS
The D13 engine in combination with Powertronic transmission results in low diesel consumption, high torque, and low maintenance costs. A hydraulic retarder (instead of just an engine brake) is available when downhill segments are expected. In the automatic mode, the truck will decide whether to use service brake, engine brake or retarder. This results in safer operating conditions and a longer brake life.
