Two Raimondi flat-top tower cranes are now at work on Milan’s newest residential tower installed by official agent Assistedile. The new topless MRT189 and an existing MRT102 are currently participating in the development of Torre Milano, a residential development clocking in at 80-meters in height.
“The decision to choose these two heavy lifters for this specific project was taken with the support of the client, Nessi & Majocchi Spa, after several evaluations of the jobsite location and project specifications. Hence, we rented the Raimondi MRT189 due to its high performances in terms of productivity, large load capacity, and fast assembly, while the MRT102 was chosen as the support machine in the supply of materials,”
said Luciano Friso, Chief Executive Officer, Assistedile.
For the first stage of the project, the MRT189 10tn with a hoist of 45kW, has been installed with a jib length of 60m at a freestanding height of 65m. Equipped with the 4.0 technologies and remote assistance, the crane has been subsequently elevated and anchored to reach the final height of 102 meters. The MRT102 was initially onsite with a jib length of 30m at a height of 48m, and has been anchored at the 16th floor, raised to a final height of 92m.
“The project presented a specific logistics challenge due to tight location and the lack of space. In fact, the entire surrounding area had been excavated for 8 meters, and the crane assemblies required the use of public zones. To accelerate the raising procedures of the two cranes and meet the project timeline we utilized a 350tn mobile crane,” he continued.
The MRT102 is scheduled to be dismantle at the end of the current year, while the MRT189 will remain at work until completion of the project, expected for the Spring of 2022.
“We are very proud to continue our close relationship with Nessi & Majocchi, a historic Italian company, by proving the best tower cranes from our fleet. They currently have nine Raimondi cranes at work across different jobsite in the region,” concluded Friso.
Located in northern Milan, between the neighborhoods of Maggiolina and Isola, Torre Milano is a 24 floor residential development that will have 105 apartments, main green areas, and a swimming pool upon completion.
