Continental Expands Its Tire Portfolio in the Agricultural Sector with Ten More Sizes

The first combine harvesters have started the 2020 harvest. While many farmers are currently collecting grains at full speed, the corn crop is not due until the end of the summer. Just in time for the start of this year’s harvest season, Continental has further expanded its tire portfolio in the agricultural sector.

Following the launch of the first size of the CombineMaster in 2019, ten more sizes of the agricultural tire will be launched this year and at the beginning of next year – including, for the first time, a VF version with innovative VF technology. The first VF Combine Master in the size 500/85R24 is available since July and will reliably accompany farmers through this year’s harvest.

Both versions of the CombineMaster convince with patented N.flex technology and innovative d.fine lug technology. The combination provides very good flexibility with low vibration on the carcass and high resistance to wear and tear.

CombineMaster and VF CombineMaster: Reliable partners in the field

The CombineMaster offers high core strength due to the HexaBead core technology. Due to the hexagonal core, the carcass material can wrap itself around the core better and thus improves the power transmission. The HexaCore design also ensures maximum load capacity of the carcass. The technology is specially developed for combine front tires and ensures high torque from rim to tire.

The VF CombineMaster equipped with VF technology is an ideal partner for farmers both in the field and on the road. The VF technology allows the tire to be used with reduced air pressure – this protects both the tire and the soil. In addition, the rectangular core of the tire ensures high deflection of the sidewall.

Full flexibility thanks to VF technology

The use on combine harvesters places very special demands on the tires. During harvesting operations, they have to withstand both cyclical loads in the field and high speeds on the road. While the counterweight of the cutter bar provides relief for the tires in the field, they are confronted with significantly higher weight on asphalt. VF tires enable farmers to save time and fuel, as well as avoid damaging soil compaction. Whereas previously it was necessary to adjust the tire pressure to the various work steps, VF technology allows the tire to be used at lower air pressure. This means that the tire can be driven without the need to adjust the air pressure to the weight of the load and the ground without any adverse effects. In this way, VF tires provide a constant load capacity at all speeds and, compared to standard tires, allow a reduction in tire pressure without compromising performance.
