Volvo CE Comes On-Board As FIA World Rallycross Championship Official Supplier

As the FIA World Rallycross Championship races full speed ahead toward its exciting electric future, another key building block has slotted into place with the appointment of Volvo Construction Equipment as the series’ Official Construction Equipment Supplier.

Both parties are firmly committed to accelerating sustainable transformation, with Volvo CE targeting an all-electric range by 2030. The three-year partnership will see Volvo CE put its industry-leading construction equipment to work at the pinnacle of the dual-surface discipline while pushing the boundaries for safety, equality, and diversity and demonstrating the potential of electric power on a global stage.

The synergies are manifold. Much like World RX’s high-caliber competitors, Volvo CE has a track record of delivering high-performance off-road solutions, and the company will use the championship as a showcase for its growing range of electric construction equipment and innovative services to a vast and invested fanbase.

As part of a shared sustainability roadmap, the objective will be to limit transportation and logistics emissions on-site, boost inclusivity and reduce travel-related emissions. Volvo CE will invite predominantly local customers to attend race weekends – with the championship set to visit seven different circuits over the course of its 2022 campaign – while integrated digital tools including the all-encompassing RX+ live streaming platform will allow a wider audience to enjoy the action virtually.

Further exciting details about the groundbreaking new partnership will be revealed over the coming weeks.

Bill Law, Head of Brand, Marketing & Communications, Volvo CE, said:

“A global shift to an electric future is inevitable and urgent – and we know that more sustainable construction solutions are a vital part of driving that change. That is why we are thrilled to partner with the now fully electric FIA World Rallycross Championship – a series that shares our commitment to not only demonstrate the power of electro-mobility today but to also work together on a journey to build the world we want to live in. When evaluating World RX as an engagement platform, we considered the fact that while the pandemic has accelerated digitalization, there is still a business need to meet customers and partners to build relationships and to demonstrate and educate around the electric offering. The integration of the physical event and the digital experience makes World RX a good fit into our new marketing approach, reflecting evolving ways to reach all our stakeholders in an engaging and exciting manner.”

Arne Dirks, Executive Director, Rallycross Promoter GmbH, said:

“We are very proud to announce Volvo CE as our Official Construction Equipment Supplier. They are a great partner for World RX, and they join us at a seminal moment as the World Championship goes electric. Not only do we share similar goals with regard to sustainability, but Volvo CE will be working with us on some hugely exciting top-secret projects that we will be able to confirm shortly and which we are confident will kickstart rallycross’ new era in sensational style.”
