In Nice’s Saint-Isidore eco-district six Potain cranes are constructing a new 54,275 m² mixed-used complex, consisting of a new 32,304 m² IKEA furniture store, surrounded by 16,675 m² of housing (289 units), 3,403 m² of offices and 3,403 m² of other retail space.
The fleet consists of three MDT 219s, one MDT 269 and two MDT 319 cranes, which Da Mota Construction, the company in charge of the site, has leased from Riviera Montage. These cranes are among the most popular Potain models and are well-suited to construction in urban areas, especially the MDT 219.
They have a maximum capacity of 10 and 12 t with mounting configurations ranging from 32 to 46 m height under hook and spans between 50 and 60 m. Their reliability, easy assembly and efficient operation were also key factors in the decision to deploy them for this project.
Frédéric Vella, manager of Riviera Montage, said:
“Potain is a long-standing partner that offers modern, reliable and easy-to-assemble cranes. The reputation of the cranes along with our technical expertise, customer proximity and investments in new equipment have allowed us to win this project.”
The cranes were installed between mid-March and the end of June 2021. Dismantling is scheduled from the first quarter of 2022 until the end of July 2022.
“Besides their reliability, the cranes include several features that will keep the project on schedule. Most notably, Manitowoc’s CCS (Crane Control System) enables easy set-up and calibration in record time from the cab. The ergonomic operation, which is the same across all three models, also increases efficiency”
Vella added.
