Scania in Denmark has just delivered a Scania R 520 to Kim Ancker Transport with a sticker that states that the truck is equipped with a defibrillator, a heart starter. There are very special reasons for that.
In 2018, Ancker experienced a truly horrible incident when an oncoming driver lost his life following cardiac arrest. He never wants that to happen ever again and therefore when ordering his new truck decided to equip the vehicle with a heart starter.
“I see this as a bit of a game-changer especially in less-populated areas where many drivers pass,”
says Allan Lassen from Red-Liv, a Danish first aid training institute, who also serves as an advisor for Scania Danmark’s Driver Academy.
“Normally, it takes longer for help to arrive in these places but if the driver with a defibrillator is registered with the Danish TrygFonden foundation as a Heart Runner, he or she will immediately be alerted via an app. A swift response is crucial to saving lives.”
