Ohio Cat parent marks 75-year milestone

Ohio Machinery, parent of Ohio Cat, is celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2020.

Founded in 1945, Ohio Machinery operates several divisions, including Ohio Cat, The Cat Rental Store, Ohio Peterbilt, Ohio Ag Equipment, Sitech, Complete Hydraulic Service, International Fuel Systems and Thomas Built Bus by Ohio Cat. 

The company started with one location in Columbus, Ohio. It grew from 39 to 109 employees in its first year and moved to the Cleveland area. The corporate headquarters moved to its present location in Broadview Heights, Ohio (Columbus area) in 1971.

The company bought Holt Company of Ohio in 2003 and began doing business as Ohio Cat with locations in Ohio, northern Kentucky and southeastern Indiana. Acquisitions since then have included International Fuel Systems in 2008; Allstate Peterbilt in 2018 (now Northern Ohio Peterbilt); and AMG Peterbilt in 2019, now named Ohio Peterbilt.

The company’s Ohio Ag Equipment sells and supports the AGCO and Claas agricultural equipment brands.

Ohio Machinery currently operates 36 locations and employs nearly 1,700 employees.
