Boral receives GreenTag certification for producing concrete with less energy-intensive materials

Boral concrete has received global GreenTag certification for producing concrete with less energy-intensive materials.

The recognition is Boral’s first Level C Global GreenTag Certification and has been applied to triple blend 60 MPa concrete used in the tunnel lining segments of the Forrestfield-Airport Link project in Perth.

The concrete contained recovered materials to significantly reduce the amount of higher energy-intensive cementitious materials.

Global GreenTag Pty Ltd is a third-party verified ISO 14024 and ISO 17065 Conformity Assessment Body that conducts the GreenTagCert certification program, which directly contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for 2030.

The Western Australian concrete team worked closely with the customer, the Salini Impregilo-NRW Joint Venture, to develop a sustainable solution for the rail tunnel project.

“The certification is also a nod to Boral’s attention to our ethical employment standards, the health and safety of our employees and those around us, including throughout our supply chain for the concrete.”

Finding a suitable concrete option for this project and meeting the needs of the customer is a testament to Boral’s technical team, with their ability and commitment to developing a product that minimised the environmental and health impact to the community.
